BHUTAN
From the 17th century until 1970, Bhutan was closed to foreigners to protect its cultural identity and traditions from outside influence. Even today, Bhutan maintains controlled tourism, allowing us to witness its pristine architecture, beliefs, and customs. The Gangtey Festival, one of Bhutan's most important, celebrates Buddhist faith at the Monastery with ancient masked dances and rituals symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The colorful masks and symbolic dances invoke the gods’ protection and aim to ward off negative energies.
